I was so honored to be apart of this amazing art show by White Lady Art in Dublin, Ireland, last Friday. Here is some video of the art that was there. My instillation was "The Unfortunate Zookwash." It is a book that I created about the murder of a character. I asked the public to solve the crime and write the ending. I will be publishing the book and all of the responses...stay tuned!

I am excited to show off my art and maybe get some new fans. It will also be exciting to get fun mail from people!

You will receive one of the following: painting, collage, photography, Steampunk jewelry, mini journal, Steampunk magnet, art doll or anything I can create and stick in an envelope. It's a surprise!

Tangled Threads Photoshoot

My life still amazes me sometimes. The connections I make are solid and lasting. They feed my soul and the people I get to work with understand my need for collaboration, muse and then space. I am not that great at producing a custom order with strict parameters, instead I like an idea that is brought to me with the freedom to make it my own. This is exactly what happened on the photoshoot with Tangled Threads.

First I just want to say the combination of two outstanding people such as Jarquin and Jen make an amazing connected team as Tangled Threads. Jarquin and I have been working with each other for over a year now. He continues to inspire me and create challenging work that makes me grow as an artist. You can see all of his adventures at www.thejarquin.com. I was just introduced to Jen only a week ago but already I feel a connection that I think will bring some amazing creativity and collaboration. She runs The People's Republic out of Portland, and according to their mission, I am fully supportive of what they are doing. Check them out at http://thepeoplespdx.com/ and get involved!

Now on to the shoot. This was a couple weeks of planning, meeting and preparing for this to all come together. The Goal: To capture their 2 different looks for their new website www.thetangledthreads.org and give them options for print and posters.

Here are some of the shots from the photoshoot. You can see more on my facebook page https://www.facebook.com/AutumnSteamArtist Please "like" and share...let the world know what we are doing!

Something New, Something Sad, Something Great!

I have some amazing new artwork, journals, paintings (yes, paintings), photography and ideas! I finished Anguiano Art's Journal and case and gave it to him in person at our last Emerge Underground art show in Portland. It was great seeing his awe and appreciation and gaining a new friend out of our art trade. I know he loves the journal and will always treasure it!

I also created a stunning journal for Dana McCarty, lead singer for Faerabella. Her journal is called "The Element of Music" and it will be a great song writer's journal. She is an amazing artist and the band has a dark cabaret jazz sound that will blow your mind. I hope to work on dressing the band this winter. I just can't work with fabric when it is 90 degrees outside.

After my drawing class in May I have been spending a lot of free time painting and drawing. I am just honing my skills but the things I have created have blown my mind. I have uploaded the images to my Deviant Art site so you can view my new photography and painting portfolio. I have to upload hundreds of pictures still, but you can see what I have here : http://autumnsteam.deviantart.com/gallery/

On a more personal note, my sweet great dane of 9 years died in my arms on July 29th. I am still grieving his loss and miss him every day.

But on a sweet happy note, we have adopted a bouncing baby boy!!! We welcomed Juno into our lives just 2 days ago. He is a white German Shepherd and very sweet, cuddly and smart. I am looking forward to hours of fun playing fetch.

Anguiano Art Trade: Gathering Supplies

I just spent the past 4 days gathering supply paper and finding the perfect beginning book cover for Aguiano Art's trade. This journal is going to be a steampunk sea and ship themed with splashes of maps, charts, illustrations and art pages. There will be plenty of blank paper as this is going to an amazing artist. I am planning on heading out to the shop right now to start on the cover. I will post pictures as I make this one. I have a feeling this is going to be one of my new favorites...lots of love going in to this!

Custom dolphin journal

I am working on a custom dolphin journal with a sea theme. Love how it's turning out! The colors are so vibrant just like you would see snorkeling in the caribbean. We are also working on a design for a guitar pedal...I will post pictures when there is something to show.

Creating A Stilt Walker's Outfit

We did it!!!! We finished Jarquin's second outfit!

Jarquin ordered this outfit last October but I just did not feel the inspiration until 2 weeks ago. I sat in bed and studied old wind-up dolls, other stilt walkers, and steampunk photos to get some inspiration. Then it hit me...the vision flashed before my eyes and I had to sketch. I sat up until 1 am sketching this design, I even picked off the wood to my colored pencils so I could color in just the right shade. --That reminds me I need to find my pencil sharpener!-- The design was so perfect- I didn't even approve it with Jarquin first -I just started creating. Andrew and I pulled all our motivation, time and babysitting favors we had to get this finished.

A few days ago we made arrangements for Jarquin to stay with us to basically do a 20 hour fitting! We had an amazing time with such a talented, kind and extraordinary person. He gave us such support that it made us push a little harder to get this done. We fitted, sewed, tooled and painted till the wee hours before finally calling it a night.

The next day we had scheduled a day in Portland to be filmed in a Steampunk Documentary at our fellow Steampunker's house. We stopped at the Bomber Diner in Portland to grab a bite and meet the director. Jarquin and I were so excited to have the outfit that we decided to take advantage of the sun break and do a small photo shoot. Andrew went inside and ordered for us while I helped Jarqhin dress, do make up and snap a few photos.

Later, back at Mikel's house, Andrew, Mac and Mikel were discussing the new Boiler Plate construction while Jarquin and I waited on the sidelines. I finished wire wrapping the key sculpture and Jarquin read. No sooner did I finish the key --the final touch to complete the outfit-- then the producer, Byrd, ask Jarquin to dress for the camera.

I filmed the entire making of the outfit in stop motion and plan on having an art instillation of the video, Jarquin in his outfit and some of the photography I have of him, later this fall. I hope everyone will come see us! Date--TBA

Check my Facebook for more photos and video of this project.

Stop by Jarquin's site to see more of my photos and other creations I made for him at www.thejarquin.com.

New year new books

With 2012 in its beginning I thought I would start by binding 3 new journals. I hope to create more art than any year before and better than before. This year I am claiming the change for the better for me and my family. We have been burned by 2011 and now it is time for us to embrace 2012 as a time of healing, creativity, fortune, happiness and travel. Thanks to all of my supporters...we are in for a magnificent ride!
