Reflecting on Steamcon

We had a lot of fun at Steamcon. We were set up in the Artist's Alley. The costumes were amazing and we had such a good time. Here are some photos of the event. More to come!

Driving to Seattle

The time is finally here! Steamcon is just hours away and we are so excited! We will be showing the the Artist's Alley starting around noon today. I just finished a new journal and 3 new USB flash drives, just for this event. We are hoping for a good turn out and of course lots of new customers. This is our first year at Steamcon so we are a little nervous and probably a little under dressed, but we will enjoy every minute of it! We of course will see our friends Mac from Steambaby.net and Anthony from Tinplatestudios but we also get to see Abney Park again! If you live in the Seattle area or want to take a short trip, come say hi and enjoy the festivities!

ooo la la!

OryCon 32

We have been so busy this weekend attending conventions and markets. Things have finally slowed down but we had a great time at OryCon. We shared a booth with Mac McGowan of Steambaby.net. Andrew met a lot of really cool people and we sold a few pieces of art. Now we must concentrate on getting things ready for SteamCon! I can't wait!

Clock Frame Journal

Here is a journal I am working on now. The cover is an old grandfather clock frame that is hinged to a tapestry backing. The paper is handbound 100% cotton Ivory paper. A great piece of art and journal.

An Epic Journal

The journey is finally over...well almost. I finished the Sea Journal. It is absolutely gorgeous! Made from an old book cover that had the word SEA on it with some dates. I riveted on an old leather belt as a part of the book binding and closure. I added a metal ship copper washers and a beautiful piece of agate sewed on with special wire. The best part is the hooks and gears move! The book is filled with hand-torn, hand-bound rice paper. There are over 400 sheets of this luscious, lightweight paper. The iron hooks swivel closed into had turned brass loops. This is one of my best pieces of work to date and took over 2 weeks to make. There is also a surprise inside, but you must come see it in person for the secret to be revealed.

Super Sweet Steamy Eye Candy

I am so proud of the purses I made last night. The black one is a small wrist purse that I just love. I took the photo then acid etched it into the brass plate. I rivited it to the purse with an antique key hole. It has a lot of room for such a compact purse.
The small brown one has a beautiful antique enameled butterfly and watch face rivited to the front of it. I added the brass chain for the handle and this one of a kind brass jeweled vace locket to the end. It is perfect for those steampunk meets where you just need to have your cell and id on you.
The last brown purse is one of the more clever things I made. I rivited turkey feathers to the purse and then hand sewed this great branch with birds and nests and a flower. It is spectacular!
There were lots of other creations last night and we will try and finish them tonight! Off to the studio!

New Creations

I have been busy tonight creating Steampunk things. The first thing I made was a new little journal. I just finished adding the toggle closure on a chain.
The next thing I created is a steampunk wallet with a key secured by rivited watch bands. It feels so nice and is the perfect size for cards, cash and change.
There was another small purse I made that involves, copper, leather and feathers. This was my favorite creation tonight!
The other things are some of my other creations I had not had time to take photos of. Let me know what you think. Look for the Etsy listings next week!
