My Logo Sign

One of my favorite photos

Runway Masquerade Fashion Show

I can not tell you what it meant to me last night. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I was not nervous and really didn't care what judgement I was going to receive until 1 minute before my line was on. Then came the butterfly's and cheers!

When Andrew stepped on the runway with his Steampunk outfit and our mechanical wings, the crowd went wild. Andrew was wearing the linen vest, linen pants, linen spats, cotton shirt, Joker broach and cuff links made by me. The Monocle was made by Mac McGowan and the cane was made by Andrew. I think there was about 1000 people in the audience and they were all glued to the stage. Andrew extended the wings and walked the runway but instead of leaving the stage he stayed as fixture to show my sign at the end of the runway.

Christopher was next. He wore the new felt hat, red and black silk jacket and pants, and the cane, which were all made by Andrew and I. He was also sporting fabulous goggles and cuffs from Mac McGowan of www.steambaby.net.

Next Mae Bell came out in the stunning red silk and satin corset skirt combo. I also made the outfit, jewelry, tiara and cuff she was wearing. Mac McGowan provided the goggles which really completed that look.

Jack wore my favorite outfit. I gathered all the white silk, satin and velvet I had and put this beautiful piece together. I made the hat, jewelry, corset, 3 skirts with 5 layers, leather peace Lilly and earrings. Mac specially made the cream colored goggles for this outfit. These goggles were unlike anything I have ever seen before and helped pull the entire outfit together.

A big thanks to Rhiannon Dark of Rhi designs for telling me about the show. To Mac McGowan for providing the perfect goggles to accessorize my models with. To Andrew for dealing with the stress and being thrown up on stage. And especially to my models who I hadn't met until that morning but made me so proud to show my work. But none of this would have been possible if my awesome mom hadn't watched the kids for me before and during the show.

Modern Sci Fi Art Show

So here's how it went. I found out about this Sci Fi art show last night on Facebook from another talented artist, Daniel Gervais of VuluStudios.com. So I emailed the Modern Sci Fi coordinator Mr King to ask if I could show my Steampunk art as well. Along comes 5pm this evening and I still had not heard back from him. Andrew and I pack up our art and head to McMinnville with Sebastian in tow. We make it there by 8:15, 45 minutes before the show begins and knock on the door. The lovely Dawn answers, says they did not get the email but to unpack and they will make room for our art! We were thrilled! So we set up and rearrange and then grabbed a bite to eat. When we got back to the house the show was already happening. Daniel was there checking things out and quite a few others too. We networked, showed off our Steampunk art, had intelligent conversation, snacked, looked at some very imaginative art, heard the most amazing ten year old play the piano and above all made new friends! We had such a great time and can't wait to show at their event again!

Check out their website at www.modernscifi.com.

Thanks for letting the steampunks play too!

Corset Photo

Here is the finished product on me! I think it turned out GREAT!

Steampunk Bridal Corset

It's finished!!! I added the final grommet just a few minutes ago to what turned out to be a fabulous silk corset. The spine of the corset is closed with old watch bands instead of your typical lacing. There are three reverse appliqued gear images on the front of the garment and the corset is adjustable by folding over a row of grommets. Just in case you were wondering there are 84 brass grommets (not including the grommets on the spine) ready to lace up!

You can see it live at the fashion show in Eugene, OR on Wednesday, August 18th.

Faerie Worlds

We had a great time at Faerie Worlds! This was our first year we participated as vendors in the event. We shared a booth with Savage Creations and were right near the main stage. It was a great spot for watching the entire event. A big thanks to everyone we met and purchased some of my creations. I learned a lot, met some amazing people, and will be back again next year!
